The self-service cafe

Long time no see.

Life is good especially today, that I'm off the burden of Biomechanics of Orthotics project. Yay. Mistakes here and there, but it's okay, I is happy ;)

So, yesterday I had lunch at Faculty of Medicine's cafe. While waiting for my drinks at the counter, I saw one old, frail pak cik who speak with voice that barely reach my ears. Teh satu. Looking intimidated and confused with the cafe's system and the people around that look awesome, most with white coats, walking busily past the others with authority. Its the Faculty of Medicine's cafe. Doctors, medical student, lecturers and hospital staffs eat there.

And when I already seated, I saw him again, walking very slowly to take a glass of plain water.

He must be a patient, or a family. He must not be a staff, and of course not a student.

Looking at him, I was reminded to my parents, and how they find these self-service cafes are troublesome. They found luxury eating in restaurants, or kedai kopi where drinks and foods being served to their table, with the waiter asking them what to eat and give recommendations.

Not in self-service cafe where they have to queue to get their food, pay to cranky cashier who thinks she's the busiest person, and find table to seat by themselves.

Most of the time, Mama and Wae would go to these self-service cafe if any of their kids around. Although Wae really enjoyed sizzling at KB Mall's foodcourt. Because their kids would act like the waitress, to queue and to pay, to serve the foods and take orders.

Which leads me.. where is the pak cik's kids? Maybe he don't have any. I can't help but feeling sympathetic.

So, kedai kopi served the best.

And, no, I'm not criticizing FoM's cafe. The service and foods there are really good although the system is confusing for first timer, and not really customer friendly ;)

And, finals are around the corner ...
